Tres Cruces Trail

The hill Vigía (307 AMSL) offers one of the best view to the Pacific Ocean. You can take the Tres Cruces trail to climb up from sea level to the top of the hill through the dense vegetation of the island. To find the start of road from the pier go to the left towards the center of town. Within ten minutes you will reach the main square with Church of San Pedro. Behind the church you can see a path betwen the houses which continue up. You can not be wrong, the entrance is well marked with signs “CAMINO TRES CRUCES”. The first part of the path is along the houses but soon it enters into the forest. Continue always up and within a 45 minutes you reach a place with three crosses which got name to this trail. From here you need just a few minutes to reach the road. When you reach the road turn to the right and follow the road up to the summit of the hill. From the crossroad the uphill gradient is softer and the walk more comfortable. And the and you have to take several step and you are in the top. There is old military facilities which now serves as a view point.

From this point you can admire the endless waters of the Pacific Ocean on the one side and om the other side nice view on the Panama City. You can also see the small houses below, the church and color’s umbrellas on the Restinga beach. On the return way you can walk on the road and you reach the village from the other side. The way on the road is longer but more comfortable.

Como Llegar

Transportation service to the Taboga Island provide the ship Calypso Queen (Phone 314 1730 / 314 1729). The round trip ticket cost B/ 11.00 for adults and B/ 7.00 for children under 12 years and for the retired. On weekdays a boat leaves at 8.30 am. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday there is another one at 3 pm. The weekend the boat leaves at 8 am, 10.30 am and 4 pm. The trip take about an hour. The pier is on the Causeway on Naos Island close the Playita. You must be there half hour before the depature.
